Found something you like? We've created this step-by-step guide to help you through the purchase process.
1. You can purchase everything by clicking "Buy"
On Yaga, people mostly sell their personal items, which means they’re in stock and available for purchase. If there's something you'd like to specify with the Seller first, hit "Send a message" (next to the item) to contact the Seller via Yaga chat; if not, just click “Buy”.
Alternatively, you can also place an offer on the item you’re interested in purchasing. Our offers system allows asking for up to 30% off the original price, and the Seller can either accept, decline or place a counter offer. Once the agreement has been reached, the new price will be automatically displayed for the user making the offer. Read more here.
2. Choose a delivery method and pay for your order
If you choose Fargo, the delivery cost will be paid at checkout together with the item price. Alternative methods would need to be agreed on in Yaga Chat before making the purchase.
Fargo (Ksh 260.00) - Door-to-door courier service currently available only within Nairobi metropolitan area. Item will be delivered to the Buyer’s location by next day.
Self-arranged / own-rider (Ksh 0.00) - This allows the Buyer and Seller to agree on an alternative delivery method, such as using own riders. Delivery costs must be arranged separately and are not included in the check-out amount.
Pick Up from Seller - This is a free delivery option that requires actually meeting up with the Seller. Before choosing this option please make sure that you’re aware of the Seller’s location so that you’re within each other’s reach.
Bundling - After purchasing your first item and paying for a suitable delivery method, a time frame of one hour opens up for additional purchases from the same store that can be checked out with Free delivery. This means that the Seller has enabled the Bundling option for their items and is willing to ship all purchases from the same Buyer in one package. Read more here.
3. Choose a payment method
You can pay using M-PESA, credit card or your Yaga wallet balance. With credit card you just need to provide your card details as usual; if you’re a Seller on Yaga and have some money from the sales in your Yaga wallet, then you could use that for shopping as well.
After the payment, the money will be deposited to Yaga's account and transferred to the Seller only after you've confirmed receiving the item on Yaga (by clicking "Item received" in Orders view). This is how Yaga protects our buyers from getting scammed.
🔒 Please note! All purchases made through the Yaga platform are covered with our Buyer Protection. If you make the payment outside Yaga (e.g. transaction to someone’s bank account directly) then sadly we can’t offer any protection.
4. Get ready to receive your purchase
After a successful payment you will receive a confirmation e-mail and the purchase can be found under "My purchases" on the left menu bar on Yaga.
Please allow the Seller a few days to send out the Order. If you get any questions then don't hesitate to contact the Seller via Yaga chat or contact our support using the Chat widget on site or support@yaga.co.ke. Once the Seller has shipped out the item you'll receive a notification about it on Yaga and to your e-mail - so please check if your e-mail is correct (under "Profile" from the menu bar).
5. Don’t forget to confirm receiving the item
Once you've received your item don't forget to click "Item received" (under "My purchases”) on Yaga to let the Seller know that you're happy with the item and we can transfer the money to their account.
